I broke out the ice cream maker again this weekend. But, I was torn between doing birthday cake ice cream and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I finally settled on chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and it turned out great!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream (adaped from Cuisinart recipes booklet and family.fun.go.com)

Ingredients
-1 cup whole milk
-3/4 cup granulated sugar
-2 cups heavy cream
-1–2 teaspoons vanilla extract (I opted for two)
-1 cup chocolate chips

For Cookie Dough
-1/2 cup butter, softened
-3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-1/2 tsp. salt
-1 tbsp. vanilla extract
-1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
-4 to 6 tbsp. water

Directions
1. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl
2. Stir in the flour, salt, vanilla and chips. Add the water, one tablespoon at a time, until you have reached a cookie dough consistency.
3. Put dough in the freezer
4. In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer or a whisk to combine the milk and
granulated sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1 – 2 minutes on low
speed.
5. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla to taste.
6. Turn machine on, pour mixture into freezer bowl through ingredient spout and let mix until
thickened, about 25 – 30 minutes.
7. For last 5 minutes, add bits of the cookie dough and the cup of chocolate chips
